The seaside city of Zadar is not new to high-level tennis, having previously hosted two Davis Cup semi-finals in 2016 and 2018. This time, the tournament will be held at the recently built Falkensteiner Resort Punta Skala, home to seven clay courts and situated just steps from the stunning Iadera Hotel. Iadera is the former name of Zadar given in ancient Roman times.
Croatian tennis has embarked on a new era. This week, the ATP Challenger Tour arrives in Zadar for the first time, marking the debut of professional tennis in the historic and scenic seaside city. The tournament is the first of a record four Challengers on Croatian soil in 2021, along with two events confirmed for Split in April and another in the capital city of Zagreb in May.
The first tournament wias played in Belgrade at TC Novak courts on 13 – 14 June. The following weekend, on 20 – 21 June, Visnjik in Zadar will play host to a tournament. The series then moves to Banja Luka on 3-4 July.
ŠC Višnjik will host Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) tournament for women. Participant from all over the world are expected to atend the tournament. UTR tournament 1 (w) 01.-09.08. UTR tournament 2 (w) 09.-15.08.
Adria Tour tournament in Zadar will be organized on the initiative of Novak Đoković with the help of Croatian Tennis Association, currently the best tennis player in the world and no. 1 on the list who really delivered with its colleagues with so many stars playing for their fans, tourists and locals and it is really a great start of the tourist season in Zadar and this part of Croatia!
The Zadar Open is a professional tennis tournament played on clay courts. It is currently part of the Association of Tennis Professionals Challenger Tour. It was first held in Zadar, Croatia during 2021.
The tournament will be played on a court for 9000 spectators, which is a number that will show Zadar to the world with all of its beauty and long tradition of sport in the city. Zadar is not only tied to basketball , and it can be called a tennis city too as it had organized Davis Cup meetings before.
